A Pretty Amazing & Varied Life

2012 has started with some amazing moments.  I had started a plan to host a friend of ours and her 4th Grade classes from Shell Beach to go to a YOPAC performance of State Street Ballet's rendition of The Jungle Book.  The idea started after talking to Gary Irish at the Merrimaker one night.  He offered to pay for the bus to transport the kids.  After finding out that PG&E offered scholarships for bus transport, Gary changed his donation for the students.  I got together 7 people to donate and bought the tickets.  The performance was in January and I invited the donors to see the kids and the performance.

The kids got the first rows which was great for the post show Q&A

I've been a Music Booster for Morro Bay High School since September of last year.  I feel I am starting to know what is going on with the group and also getting to know the parents that I work with.  Last weekend, we hosted a Zumba party as a fundraiser for the Boosters.  It was a nice afternoon with over 65 people attending and raising over $700 for the Music Program at MBHS.

This way, please!

Everybody Zumba!

Tom's birthday was the other night.  We had a wonderful dinner at 10th Street Grill with Joan and ended the night at home in our den.  People familiar with our house knows what that means.  We ended the night with finishing a project that I got involved with via the web.  The finished product is below.

My work at the PAC continues to be busy and varied.  I was asked to assist with our Founders Room Rejuvenation.  More of that in a future post.  I continue to work as a Stage Technician, especially with some of our larger shows.  We recently had South Pacific in our theater.  I was the Carpenter Lead and had to dress like a SeaBee to do set changes throughout the show.  It was pretty funny to see myself and seven other locals dressed in bell bottoms, blue shirts and sailor caps.

Me as a SeaBee!

I was walking the halls of the PAC the other day and decided to take some shots of some of the signatures and road show stencils.  It's great working at the PAC.

It's February 11.  My taxes are filed after some great help from a good friend.  The best part was establishing myself as an artist, at least to the IRS.  I have recently become a Board Member of GALA and will be chairing two events this year.  I am the Publicity Chair for the Boosters.  The Founders Room will be opening on March 9.  This year is a change from last and I am loving it!
